The Migration Museum has a long tradition of providing internships for students from both Australian and overseas tertiary institutions. The museum works with established internship programs but can also be approached here at enquiries@history.sa.gov.au to discuss potential projects.
Recent examples of projects undertaken include:
Jia Shuai from Shandong Museum researched and produced a tour of the Migration Museum in Mandarin. This will be the first tour for the museum’s Languages Other Than English app.
Silke Holmqvist from Denmark researched items in the collection relating to migration from Greece to South Australia and supported curatorial staff with a major collections management project to rapidly accession, photograph and pack a large costume collection.
Courtney Barry, from the postgraduate curatorial studies program at the University of Adelaide, reviewed a large collection of unprovenanced collection items purchased in the mid-1980s to determine its significance and relationship to more recently acquired collection items.
