Our Community Banners collection, which began in 1985, represents the memories, hopes, and dreams of over 40 diverse cultural groups from across the globe. The Banners project was instrumental in building the Museum’s earliest relationships with South Australia’s culturally diverse communities, and was an opportunity for communities to demonstrate their skills while reflecting on their experiences of migration and settlement. There are now 46 banners in the collection, take look here.
In Crafting Memories we showcase some of our beautiful banners, as well as objects from our collection that explore the same themes of identity, culture, celebration, and craft. Crafting Memories is open now.
