Upcycling Souvenirs: Make your own jewellery from souvenir spoons

Upcycle some of your favourite souvenir spoons into perfectly vintage jewellery. In this workshop you will learn how to turn spoons into brooches and earrings.

As part of the current exhibition Greetings from…the power of souvenirs, the Migration Museum is offering a series of workshops to upcycle souvenirs into things you will want to use. Souvenirs hold many memories and these workshops offer the opportunity to make them into something new to treasure!
Do you have some souvenir spoons you don’t know what to do with? Do you love unique and kooky jewellery? If so, this workshop is for you! Come along and make your own brooch and/or earrings featuring iconic Australian vintage pieces. If you don’t have any souvenir spoons, there will be the option of purchasing spoons on the day for $5 each.

The workshop includes a curator’s tour of the Greetings from…the power of souvenirs exhibition so you can get inspired by souvenirs, unbearably kitsch or otherwise! Afternoon tea will also be served as part of this workshop.

Please note: Therefore this event is limited to people aged over 16 years-old.  No jewellery-making experience is necessary.
