Using the galleries, this program takes students on an exploratory journey of life for children in 19th Century Colonial Australia. The program explores questions such as:
- Who lived here first and how do we know?
- What was school life like in the mid 1800's?
- How has technology affected daily life over time?
- How is my world different from the past?
Students dress up in the uniforms used at the Native School, take on names from the names of children born here in the Lying in Rooms between 1880 and 1908, explore changing technology of classrooms and daily life and learn about life in colonial Australia and its impact on Aboriginal people and cultures.
